Most of us think it’s a good thing to be empathetic when we see someone suffering. But consider that the ego uses empathy to identify with or vicariously experience the thoughts and feelings of others.

And identifying with suffering is sharing in suffering and perpetuates the past. It’s also identifying ourself as defenseless from the temptation of empathy.

Rather than identifying with suffering we can be compassionate and act to help by sharing the uplifting qualities of Life and trusting the Great Principle.

Consider Giving the Healing Vibrations and share all the qualities of Spirit and Harmony.

There are character traits in personality that are ugly but we are strongly attracted to them! Though initially disheartening to see them clearly, it is an opportunity to see them with an understanding Mind and loving Heart in order to release them. They delay our progress to full unity with inner peace and happiness.

If we look deeply we might see the ego’s guilt, anger, resentment and hatred. Perhaps the most subtle attraction is guilt.

Many times we feel we have to sacrifice something in order for companionship to be compatible. And then we feel some level of anger or resentment about it.

Resentment may surface as little attacks to emotionally wound. Then there’s guilt about it! But remember, the ego is attracted to this cycle and considers it justified, therefore attractive!

The subconscious ego believes dark thoughts in mind are private, but everything surfaces to consciousness and the physical eventually through attitudes, emotions, behaviors, even ill health. And even though guilt is hell it’s a self imagine we may stick with.

Thus, when I notice any disruptive feelings I pause and relate to the willingness to release them. That sincere willingness opens us to transcending inspiration to understand, release, and forgive.

Love has no guilt….It loves unconditionally. It is eternally optimistic, understanding and compassionate even when looking at the ugly within us because Love knows the ugly is a temporary image.

We are beautiful souls attracted to the Eternal and all the qualities that we perceive as Life, Mind, Truth and Love. And the sooner we radiate these qualities that we are, the happier we are.

Trust the Great Principle, and you are trusting the good in You. A happy shift of our self concept can occur when we are willing to trust the Absolute.

When we perceive concepts of fear and guilt remember we see them so that we might release them and rise above into gratitude, appreciation and gentle Love.

When we make many things in our life with our human will and ego they eventually crumble. They are temporary in the human perspective. Cakes crumble, plans crumble, even the Wall of China crumbles.

But when we co-create with the will of The Eternal we are in accord with The Law of Life and all the other qualities of Spirit. Co-creating with the Eternal means our co-creations are eternal too.

Since we don’t know the Eternal or our Real Self, we don’t know how to co-create with the Eternal. Yet, we have the same qualities within us that we perceive as: Life, Mind, Law and Love and we can express those in a balanced manner.

Thus, we have the opportunity in our human life to begin to express our eternal qualities by extending enthusiasm, sharing wisdom and true perception, and expressing sincere caring and love to others.

As we express the FourSquare, we are aligning with the creativity of the Eternal. We honor others as the Eternal does, and since we are One, we honor ourselves.

We do have real strength that is eternal and the only thing that we can take with us when we transition from this plane to the Beyond.

Our real strength is our real character and what we’re an extension of – Source.

We all can build our Strength in this earthly life now by building our human character in the same qualities of Source, Spirit, preceived as the FourSquare: Power, Intelligence, Law, and Love in a balanced manner.

We relate to and build the Power of our character through physical and mental contact with Universal Life Energy, Spirit, by simply pausing, cupping up our hands, going into Silence and feeling It. Plus, through daily practice of the Star Exercise and Mental Contact.

We relate to and build Strength by being wise and law abiding.

We relate to and build Strength through our Heart by being gentle, kind and loving.

Every moment is an opportunity to build, relate and remember.

We all experience suffering because it is part of being human. And when we see others suffering we can become very sympathetic.

But when we are sympathetic for suffering and sorrow the ego is sharing in suffering and sorrow, adding to it. Sympathy weakens us. Plus, the ego uses it to attack via judgement because of guilt and fear in perpetuating the past.

Sorrow and grief can feel overwhelming because of the ego’s sense of loss and belief in the source of happiness being outside of oneself, rather than from within.

If we are tempted to feel sympathy consider recognizing that temptation without resistance. It’s temporary. Be willing to surrender and release the temptation, rising above it into gratitude and gentleness, your genuine condition.

Be compassionate and extend this love and gentleness from within to those that are in sorrow and suffering, seeing them as beautiful souls.

Recognize them and ourselves as One with Spirit and that happiness and Peace are our natural states. We honor them and ourselves.
