Temptation is not something that is out there tempting us. Nor is there is a little devil on our shoulder tempting us. The ego just likes us to think that!
Temptation is from within the egotistical subconscious. We wouldn’t feel tempted if it wasn’t within! That’s the secret the ego tries to keep from us to retain its power over us.
Yet we have the opportunity to free ourselves from the burden of subconscious desires. And the easiest way that I know of is to embrace the truth as ugly as it might be.
The ego seduces us with the desire of gain, the payoffs of satisfaction in guilt, hatred, and even curiosity. We’ve seen in the news that the ego will kill in classrooms just to know what it feels like!
When we can see the seductions of the ego clearly, then it gives us a wonderful opportunity to release them and rise above into higher levels of consciousness.
So when we feel a tug of seduction or what we may call temptation to feel guilty, feel resentment or hatred, then it is a sure sign that our Higher Self is working to help us rise above it because we are in the field of awareness.
And awareness is a dedication to love. We can see the truth, which opens the door to love within us. Truth is the key to open ourselves to love, to gratitude, to unconditional Love.
And love rises us in consciousness. Even conditional love can help us remember that love is an innate part of us. And once we feel love, we want to be in that energy again.
The FourSquare helps us build to that spiritual unconditional love through dedication to being strong, wise, truthful, and loving. And each time we express these qualities, opening the door to love through truth we rise in consciousness. We experience more fulfillment and happiness.

Apparently we have to be willing to progress spiritually. It’s something we choose or intend. And we could have made that choice for Truth so long ago that the ego has conveniently forgotten that choice.
We always have the freedom to stay and circle in many low levels of consciousness, like guilt, depression, anger and hatred, consciously or unconsciously.
However, with spiritual intent and commitment to spiritual discipline the self can translate enlightening perceptions into “aha moments,” or gaps in which we can spiritually progress. A Light comes on in a small gap as we interpret meanings. I’ve found it’s more than “an aha moment,” rather it’s a knowing and state of being. We shift from ego to Conscious Truth. We are willing to be aware of something greater and there is possibility of realizing more harmonious states of consciousness.
It’s also a matter of being brave enough to progress. Some of us don’t want to change. We’re used to and familiar with where we are. We know what to expect and may fear the unfamiliar.
We may also feel like we don’t deserve to be happier, freer or stronger. So we do not intend to progress. And the Great Principle gives us the freedom to choose.
But our intent to progress along with understandings of how the ego functions facilitates discernment and release of negativity. Spiritual Wisdom helps ease understandings when we allow it.
What else can we do? We can contact Universal life energy, opening ourselves to the inflow of the qualities of The Great All, lighting up and activating those very same qualities already within us.
There are two easy exercises in the wisdom of Science of Being: The Mental Contact and the Star exercise. They are Universal contacts with Source!

We as humans like to look for a reason why we or someone else does what they do. On one level we feel that mind works in mysterious ways, but on another we like to understand things. We want to know why … Remember the 3 year old repeatedly asking why after giving them an answer to their question. Why? Why? Why?
Children seek answers, seek understanding, but are in a state of naïvety and can be programmed into beliefs that grow in the subconscious. As adults unknown to us, those beliefs have grown and we believe our beliefs are right!…. We like to feel that we can explain the situation and feel accomplished, superior. Huh?
And those of us that are on a conscious spiritual journey may ask why? It’s a payoff! The feeling of being accomplished or superior is a payoff. The subconscious ego likes the way it makes us feel. The ego seeks the payoff.
Or at least that part of mind that is very human and in a low level of consciousness enjoys the payoff of feeling superior. It’s a low egotistic level that seeks to feel resentment, revenge, and that vengeance and hatred are right and that the others are wrong.
Apparently, and it is very apparent in some countries’ societies, that members are indignant and hate. They must join the bandwagon of hatred! Some of us just love to feel superior and hate those that don’t do as we think they should.
People also do the things they do for the experience … the experience is the payoff. And to feel superior, to feel hatred, to feel inferior, depressed, abused. It feels right to the subconscious. The ego gets off on it!
Past history doesn’t really matter at that moment. It’s the payoff in that moment! But the fixed thinking and programming holds the ego in that cycle. The idea grows in the subconscious unknowingly to us consciously into a monster!
What can help us to evolve beyond wanting and justifying the payoffs?
It’s simple. Honesty. Sincerity. Truth. Truth about ourselves and the way the subconscious works. Become conscious and aware.
Recognizing the payoffs while releasing them to a Higher Power than ourselves.
And aligning with That which we Truly are …. gentle souls that are naive mentally and can be programmed to think certain ways that include hatred rather than the freedom of Love.
We are always free to express Love, but….generally we are afraid to express Love. Our pet dogs and cats generally are not! The subconscious is afraid because it looses its power. It’s amazing the lengths the ego will go to survive, to stay in depression, guilt, hatred. Yet, that’s not what we really are.
We are innately loving and compassionate. It expresses as caring and consideration, honor, being earnest and committed. And when we realize this it pulls us up consciously! Love is an attractor field that pulls us to It.
We can recognize Love within us as strength, wisdom, integrity, beauty, joy and peace. And Love will stand and fight with those qualities.
Rather than fight against guilt, depression, hatred, racial/sexual discrimination, drugs, war, we can avoid those attractor fields of negativity. And stand with attractor fields of happiness and beauty with daily relaxation, mediation and giving the Loving Vibrations to humanity.
I’ve found that life is all a matter of integrity and sincerity. Integrity sustains us and Love attracts us to what we really are. Attracts us to happiness, joy, beauty and peace within. And as we sincerely intend and fight to find and Be happy, beautiful and peaceful within it helps those around us and all of humanity!

Like me, You may have to quietly look within for this consideration: We generally experience a deep set belief that guilt is karmically fulfilled by physical pain or death.
For example, we may experience unconscious guilt and fear to the point of making ourselves sick!
Love is our happiness, and when we feel guilty and fear reprisal we eliminate happiness in our life! Yet, Universally, Love is the Law.
If the records are accurate, Jesus was so feared and hated because of his mission of the power of Truth and Unconditional Love. He was murdered by crucifixion. Yet, because of Unconditional Love, he ascended and demonstrated the possibility of Christ conscious Love for us all.
When you synchronize with Love then you rise above human fear and concept of guilt. Your happiness becomes unlimited!
Most of us have experienced this too at some level of awareness!
And once we become conscious of the serene happiness of Unconditional Love we will intend to experience it again and continue to be in this state. It’s a communication with our Real Self and natural state.
Love for a child may be Unconditional. I experience this and You may too. Or it may be Unconditional Love and happiness with a pet.
And since we can be conscious of this Love we can be Unconditional Loving for all humanity. It helps heal us all! (For more: Help heal the world)

Have you seen 2 year old toddlers display the strange behavior of walking away from the protection of their parents in places like a mall? I have. And I recognize the attitude within myself and you will too when you examine it closer.
We are controlled and programed from infancy. Then our mental conditioning continues as we age into toddlerhood, kindergarten and school. We’re told what to do, when to do it and how to do it. What attitudes and behaviors to display. We are conditioned for compliance to attitudes and behaviors, usually for our own good to reinforce our survival.
Yet, we all desire Freedom from all the programming, from complications, strife and the heavy burdens of humanity. We all want the same things: health, happiness, peace and love.
Even toddlers desire Freedom!
But, we have been unknowingly conditioned to be a slave to the subconscious ego from a very, very early age. We are addicted to circling in guilt, desire, worry …..trapped in thoughts …..controlled by the ego.
Yet deep down there is something within that wants Freedom. And we may exercise our freedom in ways that can be disastrous ….. like driving too fast…. lashing out at people that don’t agree with our self-righteousness ….indulging in porn, binge eating, or other dangerous activities.
Yet we are usually unaware that it is still just programming of the subconscious. Why? Because the body also becomes programmed with these memories. There are many types of memories programmed in the body…. like evolutionary and genetic karma, personal karma, and habits.
So what can we do to claim our Freedom?
Remember freedom is based in Truth.
First, we can allow ourselves to be conscious and honest about any programming we experience. The Truth gets us everywhere.
Second, consciously release egotistic programming. That is move to #3, rise above programming.
And third, work in the moment to be FourSquare: Be enthusiast and intelligent, along with displaying integrity and compassion, thereby aligning with the Great Principle and our Soul. Thus we gain our Freedom from the subconscious ego’s programming to reveal our Real Self and Soul.

A reoccurring egotistic theme crops up in society causing us problems:
The ego, likes to be ‘nice!
But being ‘nice’ can mean being overly nice or fastidious, even going to the point of being unlawful. Unlawful by not being in harmony with Universal Laws or by not being in the standard of human laws. We may lie to be nice or encourage others to break laws and support criminals causing pain and suffering.
My spiritual teacher always encouraged us to be True and FourSquare with enthusiasm, wisdom, integrity, and Love as the key elements in any decision.
An egotistical driven nice person will lie or support criminal activities just to appear pleasing, while inside they are hating. A pleasant person is genuinely joyful without harsh judgment and compassionate.
We have a choice to fight for Truth or fight against unjust laws.
Why not fight for Truth and Justice, fight with Love, rather than fight against with hate?
Hate doesn’t solve anything, rather it supports more negativity and finds more reasons to complain, protest and aggravate. The ego is attracted to death, even while appearing soooo nice!
The soul knows Life! Is Wise, Truthful and Loving and will fight for and with those qualities.

While floating on the surface of this instance, a soft breeze of joy and happiness caress my face with hope of inner peace.
But the sense of human existence and mournful sounds of painful memories cause me to sink with heavy chains of guilt.
Guilt pulls me further under, and I descend into darkness.
I struggle to survive and to rise to the surface of Light.
I’m wild with fear of death and full of doubt that the soft breeze continues even now without me.
Finally surrender becomes a conscious  inevitability. . . And dumping more illusionary trash in the darkness is halted.
With quiet alertness in the instance, a path to joy and softness of inner peace becomes apparent.
And I need only choose it.
Illusions of self vengeance are gone. And only Truth of Now is evident.

As we consciously travel our spiritual journey we seem to be presented with many dualities or obstacles that challenge our progress.These choices or obstacles appear conflicted between good and bad or helpful and not helpful causing stagnation/decline.
And I’ve found that the one that raises red flags of caution is when I’m feeling I ‘should‘ choose one pole over another!
I’ll ask myself why am I feeling anxious. Is it because subtle guilt is attached to mortal programming or is it fear? There’s a payoff of pleasure for a particular choice or fear of the alternative. It’s a want or not want thing.
Yet let us remember that our spiritual journey is all about Freedom, primarily freedom from the subconscious ego and its traits, programming and obligations. We can always suspend any choice until another opportunity presents itself with greater options.
Yet any choices that appear in duality can be resolved with a deep spiritual intent to use the FourSquare as guidance, using All Energy, Intelligence, Law and Love balanced in your choice. Then surrendering it to the Great Principle, knowing that things will workout according to the Great Law.
